Unique Photography From A Water Perspective

If you love the water on the sunny Gold Coast and you love photography, then why not try combining the two? Whether you have a dedicated waterproof camera or a DSLR, there are numerous water-based activities where you can safely use either camera to get some very unique shots that you just can’t get on land.

Take your creativity with your camera to the next level with some of the following ideas and perspectives.

Parasailing

It’s probably best to take a waterproof camera along for this one, or a GoPro with waterproof housing. In case you don’t know what it is, parasailing is being towed along behind a boat while being suspended high in the air with the aid of a special parachute. The parachutes are huge compared to those used for skydiving, and are strong enough to suspend two people sitting on seats beneath the canopy.

With parasailing on the Gold Coast you will have a bird’s eye view of the entire area right out to the mountains in the Hinterland. The kind of cool photos you can get while flying way up in the sky are limited only by your imagination. 360 degree panoramic views ensure some stunning photography.

Fly Board Extreme

With this particular form of Watersports you will likely need to be a spectator photographing the person doing the fly boarding, but it will make for some really different action shots.

Fly boarding is kind of like a wake board attached to the propulsion unit from a jet ski. The “boarder” is either propelled through the air or through the water by the jets; a unique combination of flying and diving. It takes a little getting used to, but with persistence and expert guidance from your instructor, you will soon get the hang of it and be flying like a bird and diving like a dolphin.

As fly boarding isn’t something you see everywhere, the photos you capture on the day will definitely be one of a kind for your collection.

Jet Ski Island Safari

A jet ski safari involves riding jet skis with a group of people around the Gold Coast waterways, visiting deserted little islands and generally exploring. Other tours include exploring the Broadwater on a jet ski first before beaching on an island and taking to the sand dunes in little dune buggies. If you can’t get some fantastic action shots on tours like these, then you might as well leave your camera at home.
